Jamie Walker, CPDT-KA, CCDT
Dog Trainer
My Role at Tucker Pup's
I provide private lessons, turnkey training, and behavioral modification programs.Work Background
I started training at Tucker Pup's in 2019 and have the privilege of being mentored by David Roos, one of the nation's top positive reinforcement dog trainers. David's guidance helped me refine and perfect my skills in positive reinforcement training.
Before joining Tucker Pup’s, I had my own training business in Florida where I partnered with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and provided a full spectrum of group classes and private lessons. Prior to my time in Florida, I served as head trainer at a large pet facility in Chicago, where I led group classes and private lessons using positive reinforcement techniques.
Earlier in my career, I worked at Chicago Animal Care and Control and The Anti-Cruelty Society. I used positive training to help dogs become more approachable and adoptable. While working at The Anti-Cruelty Society, Chicago’s largest and oldest animal rescue, I focused on gaining trust from dogs to help them acclimate to their environment and begin working on basic obedience. While attending University of Illinois, I completed an internship with Safe Humane Chicago, an organization that partners with government agencies and the community to promote the identification, arrest, prosecution, and sentencing of animal abusers.
Educational Background
I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Companion Animal and Equine Sciences.Professional Certifications and Associations
- Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT)
- Fear-Free Certified
- Graduated from CATCH Canine Trainers Academy

Why I Became a Dog Trainer
After working in the shelter system I realized how many people were relinquishing their dogs for behavioral issues that required only simple fixes. I now aim to help people connect with and understand their dogs so everyone can live a happy, healthy, and harmonious life together forever! My Pets
I recently said goodbye to my soul dog of 12.5 years, Boomer. He was the reason I became interested in understanding dogs on a deeper level and the connection we as humans have with them. I owe a lot of my training journey to him.I also have an almost 8 year old tabby cat named Finnigan. He is the coolest cat ever, he’s basically a dog.
Testimonials
What a fun class! My dog Morgan and I both learned so much. Jamie was a great instructor who was helpful and consistent during class and also was willing to chat before and after to provide additional support and guidance. We'll be back for the Intermediate class soon!

Our Puppy Manners instructor (Jamie) and support teams were fantastic to work with. They met with us at the beginning of each class to ask how skills were coming and about what issues we are experiencing or have questions about. They kept us informed and gave constructive feedback while being friendly and helpful.
- Erin Cleland
Jamie was very good at making comments to individual dogs and owners based on their individual needs and progress. I also appreciate the fact that the training videos summarizing the individual classes will remain available for review.
