FAQs
Is my puppy too young for training?
Absolutely not! Puppies can start learning as early as eight weeks old, and most are very fast learners. It is best to start them off on the right foot, learning basic manners such as leash walking, plus proper socialization
If I didn't start training my puppy right away, is it too late?
Absolutely not! At this age, we can correct behaviors right away, such as pulling on leash. Starting earlier can be advantageous, but by no means is waiting a few months too late. Having said that, we do recommend getting started on training right away, so you do not need to untrain behaviors later, which can be more difficult and cost more money.
I am considering sending my puppy away to boot camp. Do you recommend this?
We do not recommend boot camps where you send your dog away for any amount of time. First, these can be very stressful for many dogs for a number of reasons, such as being confined in crates for long periods of time, using dominance methods such as shock collars, and just being away from home. In addition, there would be too much to learn when picking up your dog, yet the boot camps will often make you feel like there is nothing different that you need to do. Having a well-trained dog requires the owner having a full understanding of the training approach, that you use on an ongoing basis. This cannot be learned when simply picking up your dog. If you want us to train your dog, we do offer Dropoff Training, which is far better because your dog goes home at the end of each day, and we only use positive reinforcement.
